What is World of Warcraft?
World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). In World of Warcraft, thousands of players will have the opportunity to adventure together in an enormous, persistent game world, forming friendships, slaying monsters, and engaging in epic quests that can span days or weeks.

Content patch - The content patch introduces major additions and/or changes to the game, whether in terms of functionality, content, economy, social interaction, or combat. Hotfix - A hotfix is a change made to the game deemed critical enough that it cannot be held off until a regular content patch. Because there is no download component to a hotfix, there are no downloadable patch notes. Instead, we will announce hotfix information through the forums, the in-game message of the day, and in the Server Alert window on the login screen.

Emergency patch - An emergency patch is identical to a hotfix, with the exception that an emergency patch requires a download and will be accompanied by patch notes.

Localization patch - The game is currently translated into multiple languages with plans to introduce more. While not often, there are times when we must make changes to text within the game to accommodate the various languages, and this takes the form of a localization patch. Localization patches, when they occur, take place across all language versions of the game and are accompanied by a download and patch notes. Oftentimes, bug fixes will also be included with a localization patch to better utilize the downtime. These bug fixes will be documented in the patch notes as well.

We hope that this information provides more insight to our players regarding the update process, and in the future, we will use this guideline in order to keep our players informed on the World of Warcraft update process.

What if I have trouble setting up a Play Schedule?

If you are having technical difficulties setting up your Parental Control Password Contact Billing and Account Services for assistance. If you are having difficulty coming up with a schedule, we have provided some Preset Schedules for your consideration.

I don't want to click on every half-hour to set a Play Schedule. Do you have preset Play Schedules that I can choose from?

Yes, if you do not wish to manually set a Play Schedule, you can choose from a number of Preset Schedules. These Preset Schedules are highlighted on the Play Scheduler screen.

What sort of Preset Schedules do you have available for choosing?

There are several Preset Schedules to choose from. Some will limit access to your World of Warcraft account to evenings, weekends, after-school times, or a combination of those choices. You may also select to include an automatic half-hour break at regular intervals.

How long after I submit a Play Schedule must I wait before it goes into effect?

After you submit your schedule, it can take up to 30 minutes for it to take effect. Note that if a player is logged in during a timeslot that has now been restricted, he or she will be automatically logged out when the schedule goes into effect.

Can you set different Play Schedules for different characters on the same account?

No, the Parental Control features works for all the characters on the account. That is, only one Play Schedule can be created for an account, and that schedule applies to all characters on that account.

How can I confirm what my current time zone is?

If you need help figuring out your time zone, there are different sites around the Web that have a list of time zones based on location. One such site is located at www.timeanddate.com.

Why aren't these controls in the game itself?

We group all account-related functionality together under the account settings on your Account Management page. Keeping Parental Controls in this central location also makes it easier for account owners to control Play Schedules without having to log into the game every time they wish to make a change.

Can players trade with members of the opposite faction?
No. In general, you cannot trade with players of the opposing faction. However, you can place items up for auction at the neutral auction houses at Everlook, Gadgetzan, and Booty Bay. Players from either faction can bid on these items, meaning you can buy from opposing players at this neutral auction house.

Will Horde and Alliance characters have the ability to gain faction points, thus allowing them to utilize each other's cities?
You cannot switch sides. Thus, you cannot make use of the opposing faction's cities.
